A Letter from My 20-Year-Old Self

On March 7, 2022, I did something I promised myself I'd make a tradition: I wrote a letter to my future self on my 20th birthday. It was supposed to be an annual thing, a way to check in, reflect, and see how much I'd grown. But life happened, and I completely forgot about it.
Until recently.
When I rediscovered this letter, I realized how much had changed since I wrote it. My 20-year-old self had questions, hopes, and dreams, and now, looking back, I finally have some answers.
What My Past Self Asked
The letter was simple but profound. She asked:
What new habits have become your lifestyle?
Did we graduate?
Did we meet someone?
How are you and God? Did our relationship with Him grow?
What new goals are we setting?
My past self reminded me of something I needed to hear again: "Remember not to rush things and wait on God's timing. Learn patience. You are beautiful, stop comparing, you don't have to be or look like anyone else. Become the person you know you can be."
I answered all of these questions in a YouTube video, watch it to see how my journey unfolded and hear my reflections firsthand!
What I've Learned Since Then
My college experience in Troy was transformative. I met my best friend and so many incredible people who shaped who I am today. But Troy also taught me lessons I didn't expect, it showed me a lifestyle I realized I didn't want to live.
Those experiences helped me understand what truly matters: my faith, my purpose, and becoming the person God designed me to be, not who the world says I should be.
A Message to You
If you've ever written a letter to your future self or set goals you forgot about, I encourage you to revisit them. It's not about whether you achieved everything,
it's about recognizing how far you've come and who you're becoming in the process.
And if you haven't written one yet? Start today. Ask yourself the hard questions. Be honest. Your future self will thank you.
What questions would you ask your future self? Share in the comments below—I'd love to hear from you.
